Timelessness

What is time. Since childhood we are told that time will pass on, time will move on. But what is time. Is time real or time is just a concept exploited so much. Time is a concept. Time is one dimension like length, weight etc. Why are we getting carried away with time. The reality is present moment. When it was past, it was at that moment present. And when it will be future, at that moment it will be present only. So there is no other thing other than present. When we live in past, we remember some incident of past, we are doing that in present only. Similar is the case with the future.

Time is just a dimension of measurement. Nothing more than that. The concept of flow of time is created in mind by the conditioning of mind. Time is a reflection of change. If something is changing, the concept of time came to measure and observe the change.

If the reality is present, why are we so worried. The difficulty is to be at present in thoughts. To be present is to be in now and in the situation of thoughtlessness or in control of your thoughts or at least aware of your thoughts. If you are aware of your thoughts, you are at present. That is you are observer.

Acceptance is the key

I have realized that once you accept the present, there is no suffering. Accepting the thing as it is is difficult but can be practiced. Every second if we have the desire of something different and want to escape the present, we can never live in the present. And that is disastrous. Life will end and at the last breath we will realize that we haven't lived.

Living without desire is bliss. Mind is a very bad master but a very good slave. If you observe closely, you will find that mind wants to take things in its hand and it does, unless you closely watch the mind. When you start seeing the mind, mind will disappear. Mind dislikes being watched. The existence of mind will disappear at that instant and you will find self.

What is mind. Mind is just bundle of thoughts. Thoughts come and goes, another thought comes and takes you to a ride. Its a never ending process. By regular practice, you will be able to see the activities of mind and see how naughty it is. Mind is occupying your home and takes you anywhere in a split of a second. Why do you want to allow someone to occupy your self and involving you in different mind activities.

To come out of this, a regular practice of being in present should be done. Question yourself, who are you? If you question, you will know that you are not your body, you are not your mind. Then who are you. You are something else. You are the observer, the seer. This will connect you to your inner self. But what is that inner self. It is difficult to express in words. But you can feel that once you connect to the emptiness. That is the soul, the God, that ultimate, whatever you may call it. But it will give you peace.

Let there be peace, within you, within us, within everyone. You will realize in all of us there is One, that consciousness, that is expressing from our body, senses and the mind. The problem is that we think that we are the body or the mind. Once you surrender to the ultimate, the consciousness, things will start happening automatically. You will not be involved in getting used by the mind.

Life is not thoughts

Many people just live in thoughts. Life is not thoughts. Thoughts are just the mind game of brain. The actual question is "Who are you?". And to dwell into the answer is the meditation. It is called self inquiry. The initial answers are the fake answers which are not correct. You cannot associate yourself to the body, mind. You are something other than the body and mind. Then who are you? I am. Nothing needs to be mentioned after I am. "I am" or "I am that" is the truth. You are not your thoughts, you are just the observer of the thoughts. One that is observing the thought, from where the thought is originating.

If you want to experience the inner you, you need to be in silence. You can get some answers which need not be explained. Imagine yourself just the eyes without brain. That should be the true way of living in the present. Just be in the present. No application of brain. Just seeing the presence and feeling the presence. That is it. The actual you is in the silence. Observe silence not just physical silence, silence of the thoughts too. In between two thoughts if you observe even one second of silence, you will touch your inner self. That inner self is without any thought, without any desire, pure you.

Koi baat nahi

"Koi baat nahi" my 7 year young son Shaurya says when we question him on the tasks which he hasn't done or done some mistakes. Why did you break the toy? Why are you so late? Why didn't you study? Why are you watching cartoon, tomorrow is your exam? For all these questions, an innocent reply comes from the little boy " Koi Baat Nahi". I take cues from Shaurya's life on how he is so much in the present and do not worry much about the past or future. These are the qualities of child which they forget as they grow older and become adult.

We are born to be in present but while growing we start living in past and future. As soon as Shaurya gets break from his study, he indulges himself so much in watching cartoons that it seems that he himself is in the character. And when he studies, for the initial few minutes he has to be dragged and forced to study but after the initial 10 minutes, once he understands that there is no escape, he start enjoying the study and engrosses himself. I hope I could be like him and be so focused in whatever I do.

I derive inspiration from my father and son. My father has done so much of hardship for his 4 children. I wander if I had been in his shoes, I couldn't have survived. To manage the education of four sons with limited resources seems impossible for me. But yet we survived and had a good education and yes we were happy compared to these days when it is a stressful life. Looking at my father remind me that this shall also pass. No matter how hard the situation is, if you are honest to yourself and your family, the hard times will pass. Looking at my son I hear a message from God, to live in this very second, this very moment. If yesterday was tough and you are not sure about tomorrow, Koi Baat Nahi, live in the present moment. Do your best in the present and not worry about the future.

Do not know

Yes, I have intentionally kept the title of this post as Do not Know. What do I not know? I do not know where my life is leading to? So what? No one knows about this. At least people have the idea where they are heading. At this moment I do not know what will happen next.

The time has just changed from 3:11 am to 3:12 am at the bottom right corner of the laptop. And in this quiet period of the night, I am writing. Why am I not sleeping? I am a night person. The silence of the night does give me a soothing feeling.

There is some hope which I can see
Even if it is far, I am sure it wont flee

Hope is keeping me alive and kicking
I know somewhere for me there is something

Its better to keep walking and not wait
You never know when you will find a gate

A gate to get the eternal bliss
For which everything you can miss

Should write more

It always become long since I post on this blog. I should post more frequently on this blog. On March 2014, I opened another restaurant by the same name. Financial situation is too tight now. Let's see how things go from here.

Today seen some videos on meditation, life, silence. I would be focussing on meditation as it will help in reducing the stress. After all stress is of no good.

Writing this blog from my mmx canvas lying on my bed at 1:44 am. I have become insomniac. I have put on alarm for 5 am tomorrow. Will inculcate the habit of waking up early.

It has been long

It has been long since I wrote a post on my blog. Almost 2 years. A lot has changed since then. I have left my job, started something of my own. I left my job as I was not feeling good, I was feeling suffocated. I was not liking to go to office. Then, I decided enough is enough. On 19th Sept, 2012 (if I remember correctly), I resigned from office. And 19th of Nov 2012 was my last day in office.

Leaving job was one big decision. While in notice period, I was thinking what should I do after the job. Two lines of thoughts. One to start teaching and the other to start tiffin service. Both these services could have been started from home. I took a plunge and started both. I have discontinued teaching but the food business is still on. Starting from the tiffin center, currently I have a restaurant named Ghar Ka Chulha (www.gharkachulha.com).

More about my story will come in my future posts......
